Earth water reservoirs

Construction characteristics
An earth water reservoir of reinforced concrete consists of RC monolithic tanks (of round or rectangular shape) and fittings chamber (masonry for the most part).

Parameters and construction:

Parameters and construction:
Water towers are designed individually, always on the basis of the customer's requirements (it is necessary to specify the capacity, water surface level and pipe system to be used for the operation of the water reservoir). The tanks are constructed according to their designed shapes, of impermeable concrete, by means of a system formwork. The tank' ceiling is made of RC panels, which are monolithic in round tanks. The thermal stability of the water is provided by heat insulation and a layer of earth, which covers the reservoir's tanks. Upon finishing the elements' shapes in accordance with the project, the slopes are grassed over.

Equipment
The water reservoir is furnished with a pipe system according to the customer's requirements (the pipes are provided with heat insulation and electrical heating). The hydro insulation is provided by a layer of glass laminate (attested by a hygienist for contact with drinking water). Steel constructions in permanent contact with water are made of stainless steel. Other steel constructions are heat galvanized.

Major advantages of RC earth water reservoirs
  • long durability of the construction
  • minimum requirements for maintenance

Water towers

Construction characteristics
A reinforced-concrete water tower of small cubic volume consists of a monolithic reservoir made of RC and a shaft composed of prefabricated centrings. For bigger cubic volumes (500 m3 and more )the shaft is made of monolithic RC.

Parameters and construction
Water towers are designed individually, on the basis of the customer's requirements (it is necessary to specify the capacity, water surface level and pipe system for the operation of the water reservoir). The tower consists of a shaft composed of prefabricated centrings /outer diameter 2,620 mm/; at the passage through the tank there are centrings of 1,970 in diameter.
The conical tank is manufactured as a monolithic one, according to the required capacity. The tank' ceiling is made of RC panels. The roof has got heat insulation and durable coating covering ended with copper eaves.

Foundations
Foundations are designed as monolithic bases of reinforced concrete, type B20. Their dimensions depend on the reservoir's height and capacity, as well as on engineering and geological conditions of the given site.

Equipment
Every water tower is given a pipe system according to the customer's requirement (the pipes are provided with heat insulation and electrical heating). The inner shaft has resting platforms and a vertical steel ladder with a guard cage. The tank is heat-insulated by means of foam glass. The hydro insulation is provided by a layer of glass laminate (attested by a hygienist for contact with drinking water). Steel constructions in permanent contact with water are made of stainless steel. Other steel constructions are heat galvanized. Both inner and outer surfaces of the original concrete are treated by dubbing with a felt float and, a unifying silicate-base paint is applied.

Major advantages of RC water towers
  • long durability of the construction
  • minimum requirements for maintenance
  • aesthetic appearance
